The Cape

My family, on my mother's side, were longer established in the Cape than my father's side in Natal, as you discover in White Zulu. There were, of course, happy childhood visits to Mum's side, occasions when both colourful characters and the history of Alphen became known to me. Happily, many photographic memories of these times survive, and we begin with  with some treasures of older times.
